Question by Helen M: How much should I pay a business who lets me have my Vending Machine on their property?
I am starting a vending machine business. I am writing up a proposal for my home owners association to ask if I can put in a vending machine in the pool area. This vending machine will get a lot of action in the summer months. When it is colder weather I imagine we will have less traffic; we will get the kids from the nearby school and people going to the gym. Should I offer them a percentage of my profit or a monthly fixed amount? If a fixed amount, how much?

You don’t have to offer them anything. The only time they should get a commission is if THEY ask if there is one. If they don’t ask, don’t tell! We generally offered 10% (or less) depending on how much “action” the machine got

A friend and I are considering to start a food vending business that would travel through the mid west to music festivals and other big events. I’d like to know some of the permits I will be needing and some of the guidelines that might help me get started. Any information that can be given will all be much help as I know nothing about this and it’s all new to me.

You are going to need a license and permit from every city in which you intend to vend, as well as permission to use each location, and certificate/proof of inspection from each city’s Department of Health, and there may be other, unique requirements for each. To get started, pick one city, and see what is required – start at the City’s web site
